All roads to Mangaung

Former President Thabo Mbeki

We are only a few weeks away from the ANC’s electoral conference in Mangaung, just to recap on what happened before. In 2008 our former president was removed or rather forced to resign, as president of the ANC as well as president of the Republic.
The members went to the conference fully aware of what was happening, they knew they were at war.

At the end of the conference, we saw the party being split into two that is when the Congress of The People was born. I would like to believe that those who formed the COPE were in support of Mr. Mbeki, they did not agree with the way he was removed.

Question is could history repeat it self again this year? It is clear that there is a split within the ANC, as some members want the current president to return for the second term, while other members want his deputy to be the leader. Two camps which one will come out victorious and which one will come out with nothing to show.

All we can do is wait and see what will happen, the nominations have been submitted, regions have made their choices, let’s hope who ever is voted in does not forget the people as this has been the case.
