Navy Heart

Oh! Remember me, when the gaze of lust have vanished
When my place in you is replaced by 14 percent volume of alcohol
Remember me who loved you
Cherished you, respected you and honoured you
For I thought I found a partner in you
But it was just another passing dog, peeing on my tree
Forgive me my heart for I allowed you to fall in love with this fool
That has destroyed me by cheating
But now my tears have dried, and my fountain is empty
His tears are flowing and the fountain is over pouring
I hate him, I do not
I resent him with the waste of my time that has passed
Indeed fools do fall in love …but I survived
I survived from being a plum, fat and unhappy being
into the pumpkin face, with cheeks full of flesh
And I realised it was another life lesson, I undergone
And I came out a winner, alone
Because I came alone in this world of pain, caused by my kind
How can you say you love me when you are hurting me?

My big fat BIG dream

Every person has that dream that they would like for it to come true, to some people this dream might be small and very senseless but to me its big and it’s my dream so I don’t care what others say it’s my dream so you opinion don’t matter thank you very much.
So we are allowed to dream anyhow we want. Here go some of my dreams.
·         A big white wedding with a man of dreams
·         Travelling
·         Be super rich
I know that some of these may seems as nothing to some of you but they are my dreams so.........
Dream wedding: It’s every girl dream to meet her prince charming who will sweep her off her feet and make her happy, not that these things do happen in this day and age. Also it is every parents dream to see their children meeting someone and getting married.  When I get married, if I get married going the whole nine yards is the deal...I mean the whole nine yards, Ilobolo, traditional wedding, your white wedding and of course three children,
Super Rich:  When I was younger I made a promise to myself that I would work hard so that I could improve life as well as my parent’s life, so getting rich will definitely do that. That means all the years my mother worked as a maid and my father as a garden boy will be over and they will be sorrows of yesterday. Being rich will ensure that my parents live in a mansion and they never, ever get to lift a finger.
Travelling: Who does not want to travel? Travelling the world is one of my biggest dream but of course travelling South Africa first then the world.  But all of these dreams of mine require time, dedication and money which is why getting rich is at the top.
There is nothing wrong with dreaming, having dreams means that you have something to work towards achieving. So there is nothing stopping you from dreaming

“Sweet lies”

A good friend of mine wrote this poem he goes by the name of Abel Mfundo Dantyi. He is just something else, a good friend, sweet heart, and a divo........he was a student I had the chance to be friends with when we were still doing our Diploma, so if you see him tell him.........those who have seen each other shall meet again.......It goes like this:
Sweet lies tastes like candy of happiness,
sweet lies turns butterflies into doves,
Sweet lies with its rhyming sounds of innocence,
Sweet lies that hinders the powder of hope,
Sweet lies that create a magical fountain for the naive,
Sweet lies, white lies, dog lies
A lie has no manners and knows no trust
A lie is a lie
Just tell the truth

Conventional is a good fallback position isn’t it?

My own understanding of the word “conventional” is that it means usual or predictable. Conventional is being safe which is something good but we need to have a plan B,  playing it safe sometimes can be boring which is why we need to be creative and take the initiative to challenge ourselves to doing that thing that we always though it to be impossible.

We should learn to leave our comfort zone for something more exciting and take risks, it is what makes life exciting

Sticking to what you know is the right thing to do at times but we need to challenge ourselves the problem is if you stick to conventional then you never take chances in life and what fun is that in the end. So I say let conventional be the fallback position and take a chance now and again. You cannot be always be predictable

Women’s month = Women’s grief

In August every year we celebrate the  women of this country, these are the women who took it in their selves to act and do something about the situation and the challenges they were facing. These were the brave women, women of steel.
Today exactly during women’s month we see and hear of stories of women being attacked and raped, where is the humanity in that? What happened to Ubuntu? How does one live with them selves after raping a women of 80+ years? These are the women that are supposed to be our pillars of strengths and yet there are people who thrive by doing bad things to them.
Raped  and brutally beaten
We are also faced with women being attacked because of their sexuality, how does one’s sexuality affect or even offend the other I mean after all it is their choice, many women have been attacked, raped or even murdered in front of their loved ones all because they are “LESBAINS”.

What has our country come to? Do we hate one another so much that much that we are even prepared to take their lives. All know that is that the bible says “do not judge for the same judgement shall be passed onto you” we are all Africans, we are all humans, the least we can do is tolerate each other, despite our cultural background or our sexual orientation.

You cannot chase two rabbits at the same time

As much as i would like to disagree with the statement, but at the same time it is quite true and very self explanatory.  It is not rocket science we all know that one person cannot be in two places at the same time, its just impossible.

I know that we live in a world where nothing is impossible and if we believe then things will happen but lets be honest, is it possible for me to be in two places and the same time, I just can’t get it into my head unless someone explains or show me if its possible

All i know is that we as people have to do things and in order to make them happen we have to have a strategy, other people strategy is tackle two things at the same time while others is to tackle one at a time, its only normal after all. It all depends on a person but all I am saying is that whatever we do always comes back to us, and if we are not careful we just might crash and burn, so don’t take too much, don’t do too many things at the same time.
It highly depends on you on how much you take on, but taking on too much might mean that some of your projects might not be a success as much as you would like them to be.

Just me

I think it is only fair that I write something on this topic. As young women I see and hear things some of these I want to have firsthand experience, I don’t want to be told by the others.
For instance when I was registering here at CPUT with my cousins they gave me a whole lot of lecture of things I should do or not do, I’m thinking that I am not the only one who was told or given this lecture. I told myself that I would not be on facebook, because it might have an impact on studies, no bashes because they will definitely make me lose perceptive. These are the promises that I made, but when I got here everything had to change.
First I registered on Facebook, a bit later I started going to bash, and it was fresher’s tour which was at Oudekraal. There was no way I was going to be the e odd one out. These are the things that define us; however I felt that I needed to be part of these in order for me to be one of the students.
On top I wanted to experience everything firsthand. And I’m glad I went through those stages in my life have I not gone through I would want to do them now if not later, which is not an option for me.
It is not nice to see old people clubbing like teenagers, makes me wonder what where they doing earlier in their lives..Its not a good sight at all.

“Nothing is more dangerous than an idea, when you have one idea”

I believe in this saying 100%, imagine if every person in the world only had one idea.....nothing would ever happen, sometimes our plans don’t go according our plans which is why it is always vital that one have plan A, plan B, and a backup for these.
An idea is only an idea, but it only becomes effective when it is implemented. Everything that we have today they all began with just an idea, those ideas’ had back up plans...It took someone with the initiative and the drive to make something happen.
It is important that we young people of Africa come up with our own ideas and their back up plans, because one cannot depend on one plan, in case that plan doesn’t go right so that we have something to fall back on.

Wathinta abafazi wathinta imbokodo...........

A saying that is used almost each and every day, but it is used mostly during August, we all know the reason for this.  This is the time of women like Lillian Ngoyi, Helen Joseph, and Sophie Williams and Albertina Sisulu. These are the women who were very vocal, and who were leading thousands of women who took in their own that something had to be done regarding the pass laws against women.  Deliver petition to JG Strijdom, while embarking on this march they were singing a song.... “Wathinta abafazi wathint’imbokdo.... uzokufa”

However this was not the only march that women embarked on, they also went to the union buildings and stood there quietly for one hour and thirty minutes, this just shows determination and courage. One thing we must remember that these were working women, some were carrying children in their backs and some even took their white employers children with.

Dora Tamana, a member of the ANC Women’s League and a founding member of the Federation of South African Women, declared:
“We, women, will never carry these passes. This is something that touches my heart. I appeal to you young Africans to come forward and fight. These passes make the road even narrower for us. We have seen unemployment, lack of accommodation and families broken because of passes. We have seen it with our men. Who will look after our children when we go to jail for a small technical offence -- not having a pass?”
Translation: “You strike a woman, you strike a rock.........you die”

Have you figured out the second head fake?

I don’t even know what to write about........ I guess this topic require a lot of thinking which is something that I don’t like to do. But this is me... putting on my thinking cap. I don’t think there is something called a second head, but then again there might be something like that of course I have never seen or heard of a person with a person with a head fake.

“It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way ... the dreams will come to you. Did you figure out the second head fake? The talk's not for you. It's for my kids.” – Randy Pausch.

But my own understanding of the topic is that when a person has a second head fake is when they make a decision and change it without any notice. Or they say one thing to me and say a completely different thing to the next person...well I consider that person to be two faced.

Soweto Derby

One of the reason I’m proud to be a South African is our diversity and with our diversity comes a rainbow nation this became clear during the 2010 fifa world cup, it is the same when the two giant of Soweto comes head to head. Whenever these two play against each other the whole country comes to a stand still and it becomes divided in two sides one for Orlando Pirates, the other for Kaizer Chiefs.
We know that Orlando Pirate are raining champs of the league and they are also champs of the Carling Black Label challenge, Saturday they will be hoping to keep the trophy like they did last year, “so we can be able to rub it in Kaizer Chiefs fans”
These two teams have been rivals forever and its clear that I am a buccaneer Orlando Pirates fan, and it is our pledge that where Orlando Pirates is we will be no matter what the outcome of the we will remain ‘happy people, city robbers’ . There  is only one thing left to say may the best team win.
Remember whether you are a Pirate or a Chiefs we are all South African and we are one..............It does not matter because we are all Africans.  Bhakajuju ka juju is here to stay”
And we remain the undefeated champs….

I am

A child, sister, aunt, grandchild, cousin, friend  and most of all a South African. I like to say everyone has their own uniqueness, we are different in our own special kind of way. I know I’m different than the next person because no matter how hard they try to impersonate me they will never be the real deal.

Being able to think using my head and not my heart no matter what the situation, being able to smile or laugh even though its hard,  free spirited, don’t care what people say about me. These are just some few words that describes what kind of person I am, of course not to mention that I’m very short tempered even some of my family members don’t understand when i shout at them for nothing, but that is me.

I will not be influenced by others, I make up my own mind because i believe that in South Africa we have the freedom to use our own initiative and think for ourselves.  So what people around me say or do does not shape who I am and it does not have any kind of influence over me. I AM INDEPENDANT

This Mandela day

18th July a day that we celebrate each and every year, what have you done to give back, to uplift, and empower those less fortunate. For me this year was not as special as the previous years. As i was about to embark on my journey to help build a house in my area, we received a call saying that we have lost a family member.

Emotions ran through my mind, we were all shocked, no one knew what to do but we eventually gathered our thoughts and went to the hospital and we were told that she past away an hour before, the only question in our minds was what went wrong because the test came back clear , but we then later realised that cause of death is not important what is important is for us to continue to live and be happy no matter what.

Having someone die before you and you though that they were getting better is a huge slap in the face.  But we had to be strong for the whole family,  just a few days after the news we then heard that another family members has passed away. So you can guess that it has not been a great day for me and neither for my family.  It is these sudden death’s that makes you realise that life is precious and you should live life to the fullest. So what did you do??

“In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes you cant choose the fifteen minutes but why would you be world famous?”

Each and every individual has their own attributes in which they thrive for.. and we sometimes perceive these attributes good or bad.  Every one or in fact every young person has something to claim or offer the world with their uniqueness and ideas, but that is up to the way we execute and present those ideas.

One thing I know I will be famous for is, if not for my big whole heart, then for being able to land a helping hand,  I was raised in such a way that you cannot let the person next to you suffer, if you are able to help then do, and you cannot eat whilst the person next to you is not eating and you know that they are starving. Those are two of the most important principles that were instilled in me not only by my parents but by the community as a whole.

Even though these may seem as nothing or little or that they don’t matter but believe me, they do matter. By me doing that little bit I am actually helping someone and that is seen as doing good. You don’t have to be famous for what you do, but if you are happy and content with whatever you are doing then surely good things shall follow you where ever you go.
